It is said that the old name of the village was Kestanbul. The name Kestanbul, which was one of the caravan routes opening to the west during the Ottoman period and known directly as the caravan route with Istanbul, was changed to Ormanlı due to its natural characteristics after the War of Independence.

The economy of a village depends on agriculture and husbandry.

There is no primary school in the village and bussed education is used. The village has both drinking water and sewage mains network. There is no PTT branch or PTT agency. There is a health center and a health home. The road that provides access to the village is asphalt and there is electricity and fixed telephone in the village. The population of 2019 is 154 people. After Tekirdağ gained the metropolitan status on December 6, 2012, all villages turned into neighborhoods.
